Encephalomalacia, anyone?

Posted by tadams1129 @tadams1129, May 8, 2023

Mri results came back that I have stable encephalomalacia in the left frontal lobe. I had a benign tumor removed from my left frontal lobe in 2014. I’ve had checkup MRIs done often since then and have never had encephalomalacia mentioned. I assumed this would begin shortly after a brain surgery, showing on scans.

Has anyone else had brain surgery, then diagnosed with encephalomalacia later on? Has it progressed for you? Your similar experience is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Had brain surgery 2010; just got diagnosed with having stable encephalomalacia for the first time. Have no idea what it means for me.

My surgery was in 2022 I believe the encephalomalacia showed in 2023, now it shows the gliosis and it looks to have spread a bit. I get a consult on the 24th. I'm not expecting to hear anything new. Hang in there, its worrisome for sure.

I was also diagnosed with encephalomacia after brain surgery. Surgery was in 2008. I wasn't told about the encephalomacia until 2024. They kept saying I had Bipolar disorder and treated with meds, shock therapy and more drugs. I did my own research and found out. I was told there is nothing that can be done.

Hello,

I have been having migraines since about April that last 3-4 days, chronic fatigue, memory problems that shouldn’t be there because I’m only 30. I had a closed brain fracture at the age of 4 years old, over 26 years ago. On a recent MRI that I had I was diagnosed with encephalomalacia in the frontal lobe of brain that spreaded bilaterally. Anyone know why this progresses? What makes it stop? Comparing it to the MRI from 2018 it was very minimal volume loss. Now it’s progressed to this diagnosis. Any have any similar symptoms? Please anything would help. Thank you

I was hit by car 12 years ago. Driver ran a red light and T-Boned me on my mountain bike. I have 4 plates in my face and skull. I've been having migrains in the left side of my face, my eye and the left side of my forehead. I was diagnosed with Encephalomalacia but nobody can tell me why this massive pain is occurring. I do have an appointment with the Nuerologist on April 16th to hopefully get answers because at this time, I'm not much to go on? Help!!
