Emphysema and CT Scans
I was diagnosed about a year ago with severe emphysema by my Pulmonologist. My FEV1 is 49%. According to my PFT I have severe air trapping and hyper inflated lungs. It also shows my CO is not filtering well. My issue is this. When I had the HRCT scan done the radiologist's report says no emphysema. He says there's no issues in the lungs. But the same CT scans my pulmonologist pulled up and showed me the emphysema on the scans. Black areas he said were air trapping. He says I have significant emphysema with lung failure. So I'm wondering why the radiologist would write up such a report. I'm on continuous oxygen now because my blood oxygen was dropping to 85%. My probelm is this... I had to quit work and apply for my disability through Social security. All the doctor notes over the past year show severe emphysema including the PFT and spiro done previously but that radiologist report might cause problems. I have other illnesses as well but the Social security judge is asking for that specifically.
