No, no symptoms from apixaban since starting it on doctor's prescription in Sept, 2017. Statins and metoprolol have both stunted me a bit, I believe, although my cardio says I cannot blame either for my lower energy. I'm thinkin' bravo sierra to that.
I just looked in google and GERD and reflux are not listed as possible side-effects. It's not to say you might not be the first to find that it affects you...YOU....that way or that you aren't legitimately concerned that it does.
I have a suggestion if you don't want to take a PPI. It's nasty, but it works. Often, reflux is due to an imprecise closure of the pyloric valve. It is supposed to sense stomach acid in quantity when and after you eat, and it closes to protect the esophagus. If you can stand to do it, swallow one full tbsp of apple cider vinegar. After you do the heebie-jeebies and 'the dance', it will start to induce the pyloric valve to close firmly. Or, so the reasoning went in the article I saw. As I said, I have resorted to this a few times in the past three/four years, and find that it merits about a B+ grade for efficacy. You lose nothing for trying, it might work, it's a new challenge in life, and it beats PPI swallowing. 😀
Oh, and go for a walk. Even if it's late, and if it's safe for you, go for a 30 minute walk. Nothing crazy, just a night-time stroll which will help to settle the stomach. Then, normal bedtime routine, and away you go.
If you didn't have acid reflux before taking Eliquis then it probably is being caused by the Eliquis unless you have started any other new medication. That's why it is always best to start one new med at a time so that if you do have side effects you know which one to look. I bet if you did more research into some of the professional sites you might find some more data. Try looking at NIH, research articles from some of the big medical centers and GI centers. I feel that there have been too many documented issues with Eliquis. I spents 8 months of my precious life having severe vertigo and up to 3-4 dizzy spells a day until I came across well documented case studies and a research article from 2024 based on changing patients from Warfarin to Eliquis
