Elderly woman humming and moaning

Posted by David Rich @davidcrich10, 4 hours ago

Hello. My 86 year old mother has suddenly started humming or moaning when performing most tasks - walking, brushing her hair, brushing her teeth, etc. She does not appear to even know she is doing so. She says she is not in pain, though she never healed well from a partial hip replacement. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I’d guess her hearing may have gotten worse lately and humming or moaning may fill a void that wasn’t there before. I offer this only after dealing with some elderly family - not based on medical research. It could be soothing to her to hear her own voice.
She might enjoy listening to some music from the big band era and swing as she works.
