Dry eyes yet they water constantly
I contracted original sars virus in dec. 2020 and at that time only lost taste and smell; a few months later dizziness/brain fog/forgetting words, sensitivity to certain foods to where i now take h1 and h2 histamine blockers among many other supplements per the survivors corp facebook group; always had dry eyes but as a long hauler, they've gotten worse; ophthalmologist inserted temporary eye plugs but my eyes gushed even more but they're probably dissolved by now. have been using non-preservative eye drops yet my eyes water so badly i no longer can wear eye makeup. anyone else?

To denise @trnrmom1, Yes, I have had severe dry eyes for years. Ophthalmologists have tried numerous drops on me, but no drops ever helped me. I couldn't even keep the plugs in my eyes. I think I probably know the non-preservative you refer to me and it helped very little for me. The only thing that ever helped me was a Dr who cauterized my tear ducts [yes, it is painful as hell!]. I had it done twice [takes awhile to build up the stamina to request to have it done again!] and called to schedule a third time, but the Dr changed his specialty and now does cataracts only. I can't find anyone else to do it. And yes, even though I have severe dry eyes, my eyes water badly. I never got a satisfactory answer as to why, but I googled it and it is normal with dry eye, for some reason [I'm 77 and have memory problems]. I sympathize with you and wish I could give you helpful information. Dry eyes are tough. I think the worst for me is how painful they can be and the feeling that you have sand in your eyes when you blink [OUCH!]. As for the pain, it is like a migraine in your eyes, is the best way I can describe it. Hang in there and I hope you can find something that works for you!

This may be too simple, but have you tried Thera Tears? My wife use it for our minor eye problems and it works fast. It contains high amounts of vitamin E, Omega 3 and Flaxseed oil. Any pharmacy should have it. Hope you get better soon.
i've tried them all; maybe just have to live w/the gushing dry eyes as part of aging and being a long hauler. wish that was my only health issue at 77.
I’m offering a suggestion…maybe it’s not your eyes. Have you tried to find the root cause of your eye problems. Your Thyroid can either be hyperthyroid or hypothyroid. Maybe you have hyperthyroidism which can cause dry eye. I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto/Hypothyroidism and beginning the medication to treat this has helped my eyes. Also, the foods you eat could be causing this as well. I’ve had a food sensitivity test done and have eliminated all foods that I am sensitive to. It’s not been easy, but I also lost my taste/smell last December and it’s not back yet, so that does make things easier for me. But, I would give anything to get my taste and smell back! Good luck to you!
I’ve been on thyroid meds for years and did lose taste and smell when I got original virus in 2020 and developed food sensitivity to many foods but take h1 and h2 antihistamines per other covid long haulers and if what I ate causes itching or tingling in feet I’ll take a Benadryl after eating. Wish dry gushing eyes were my only post covid symptom!
Thank you for your reply. I have suggested to Drs many times that I don't feel that we are down to the root of my problems with my eyes, especially the dry eye, but don't feel listened to. I have so many eye conditions that I think they don't want to find more that they can't figure out what to do with. I was told that they can't do anything about my chronic double vision and scratches on the cornea, because I have so many other eye conditions........it's like they have just given up, and I don't have a medical degree, so I have to rely on them! LOL! I do have hypothyroid, so maybe I will try to check that out. Thanks for your suggestions!
