Does vaginal brachytherapy affect a titanium hip replacement?
I had a total hip replacement in 2023 and was just diagnosed with endometrial cancer in Feb 2025. I have had a radical total hysterectomy and is was surgically staged as 1A2, grade 2. The tumor board has recommended undergoing vaginal brachytherapy and I have many questions about short and long term effects but my main concern is the affect the radiation will have on the hip implant and surrounding hip socket. Has anyone else undergone brachytherapy with a hip replacement that can help with my concerns? Thanks so much in advance.

So was I, in March 2025, I had 28 external, 2 internal (brach) treatments. It's was Stage 3 Endo cancer but I do have the POLE E mutation when cancer was analyzed @ pathology report
I just finished my radiation therapies last week. Did you have chemo? I elected not to at this time. I am interested in getting ICI immune therapy though. I need to find a specialist in that, as my hospital requires chemo to do ICI theropy
@tdfraze Was this message meant for me? If so, I did not have chemotherapy. After my original diagnosis and surgery I had no other treatment. I had a recurrence two years later that was found by a pelvic exam during one of my cancer surveillance appointments. I had external pelvic radiation and internal (brachytherapy) vaginal therapy for the recurrence. No chemotherapy or immunotherapy.
I was diagnosed with endometrial adenocarcinoma, surgically staged as stage 1A2, FIGO grade 2. They did a radical, complete hysterectomy along with removing sentinel lymph nodes and did a thorough pelvic wash. All the pathology was negative besides the tumor which was only in the endometrium and less than halfway into the myometrium. It was found early and contained by the grace of God. I began vaginal cuff brachytherapy on the 18th of June. I had the second treatment this past Thursday and my final treatment will be the 9th of July. I am doing remarkably well. Fatigue and urinary urgency for a couple of days after each treatment are the only side effects this far. I am blessed with an amazing gynecologist oncologist, radiation oncologist and their medical staff. I am so thankful and grateful for God’s blessings and protection through all of these past seven months and for my family’s support and love. I also pray for each person on this forum. I know I have joined a club that none of us wanted to ever join. We are all warriors.
I glad yours caught early, mine was not, but God is with me for sure. Mine was stage 3 but I do have the POLE E mutation, so they say those with POLE mutations have better outcomes generally. Idk, I'm just doing suppliments and want to pursue ICI therapy as well.
