Does enlarged prostate on ultrasound confirm or normal size excludes the diagnosis of urine out flow obstruction due to BPH? thanks

@abid - Good morning. There are several ways to diagnose BPH including symptoms, digital rectal exam, and sonogram. Sometimes more than one tool is needed for the final diagnosis. Of course, and sonogram is the most accurate way to determine actual prostate size.

Unfortunately not. I have what is considered a normal to small sized prostrate and am about to have my 4th BPH surgery. While a large prostate may make BPH more likely, it is not uncommon for normal sized prostates to grow in on the urethra and cause BHP symptoms and problems.

Agree with USC94.
Same here- small smooth prostate
on exam. High symptom score on
Flomax. Doesn’t hurt to take saw palmetto. 76 and plenty of hair left
even though baldness in my family.
I’ve been on 320 mg for 25 years.
See if your doctor agrees. I still am
requesting PSA lab. May stop at 80.
