Does anyone here suffer from a nasal fungal infection?
Hello. What I thought was an initial sinus infection quite some time ago turned out to be a fungal infection instead. I've had this now for quite a while with no real let-up. ENT suggested surgery after catscan. Don't really want to go that route. I hear post-op healing is no picnic and I'm on Xarelto for afib.

It temporarily went away on antibiotics, though? That means it isn't entirely fungal.
@mersan6
EDTA if it's a biofilm.
I just ordered some after 5 years of undiagnosed odontogenic osteomyelitis with an auditory tube nidus and I'm so excited
@lorec Hello. While it did go away temporarily (as mine did also) it always came back. The ENT doctor that I saw gave me a round of antibiotics that lasted for a few weeks that would have destroyed anything bacterial for sure, so after the symptoms came back again thats when he ordered the cat-scan. My prognosis was fungal.
I suffered through years of chronic sinus problems and had 3 surgeries over a twenty year period. I was prescribed numerous antibiotics and continued to have the resound of sinus problems. I ultimately changed to A new ENT doctor who did two things that were done infrequently if at all by previous doctors. First he scoped me at almost every visit to confirm infection. Second, if present he took a sample to send to lab to make sure I received appropriate antibiotic. And in addition I was when needed prescribed compounded antibiotics in spray form direct to sinus cavity to avoid antibiotics hitting the whole system. For me this was very successful.
I had a five year period absent sinus infections and when I finally had one it was minor. Not sure how common this process is but it was anew lease on life for me. In hindsight i am certain I took far too many antibiotics that were prescribed in good faith but absent the above steps of confirming the best medication for that occurance.
I use Astepro and find it effective with no side effects.
Did you find out if the fungus was caused by mold in your environment? There are protocols for mold in your sinuses.
