Hello everyone, I am curious to
Hear from anyone who has had experience with scleral contacts. My optometrist has referred me to a specialist to investigate scleral contacts. My cornea is compromised due to a very tight eyelid, post tumor removal surgery and radiation. 2020. I am trying to resolve pain and erosion by wearing a Band-Aid contact lens as many hours a day as I can and then using p.m. refresh appointment during the night. I also use preservative free eye drops during the day. If you can offer any advice or help me formulate questions to ask the doctor that I meeting with, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts. Thank you very much.

Hi @dreams. I found two members in the forum who have been fitted with scleral contacts and posted links below to their replies in two different discussions. I’d like to tag @zijasa and @ellerchim. They might be able to give you some thoughts about what to ask your doctor about the lenses and what to expect.

You’ve certainly gone through a challenging time having a tumor so close to your eye. I hope the scleral lenses are helpful for you. Was the tumor on your lid?

Hello Lori,
How nice and thoughtful of you to help me find some people who have experience with scleral contacts. The tumor was on the margin of the eyelid. It was Merkel Cell skin cancer and I was fortunate to get treatment at Mayo in Rochester, MN. I also had a melanoma tumor removed in 2022 and get exams and tests twice a year at Mayo.
I do so appreciate Mayo Connect, as I have learned so much and met many other very nice people.
Thanks again,
Denise
