Does anyone have any experience with Ketamine?

I was wondering if anyone has experience with Ketamine. I take Zoloft and Buspar presently.

I have heard good things and bad things regarding Ketamine. It can be very expensive and its effects do not last forever.
Try adding Wellbutrin. It is cheaper and pairs well with Zoloft and Buspar.
Good luck.

I had two weeks of ketamine injections at a time when my depression worsened despite being on Zoloft and Venlafaxine. They were very expensive but did work to bring me back to baseline. I continued to take Zoloft and Venlafaxine and later Paxil was added.

I've not tried it, but a friend reported substantial benefits. I am interested in the potentials of psychedelics for treating depression. Full disclosure: I was into the Grateful Dead for the last dozen years of their career, attended my share of shows, and thus have ample experience with them. I self-medicated my lifelong depression when I was young with alcohol and no small list of other substances. I have horror stories about all of them (and advise against them) except psychedelics, which always left me in a good place for a while afterwards. So I feel there's something to this. I'd like to see more research. Given my drug history, I opted against it when my depression reached the near terminal phase, but that was a personal decision. I'd say speak with a couple of providers to get more than one opinion. But do approach it with caution if you try it. Psychedelics are not minor substances.

@depressedbutnotdead Thank you for sharing this information and for your advice. I agree with you. It's important to speak with more than one health care provider about ketamine. The early data that I have read in research reports looks promising but like you I'd approach ketamine with great caution. I'd also want to know if my health care policy will cover a ketamine infusion.

I have been doing Spravato for over 1 years now. I would recommend giving it a try.It seems effective, there doesn't seem to be any side effects.

My brother has been using Ketamine infusion for years. He swears by them. It has helped him with PTSD, depression and physical pain. He also had a bad brain injury and said it lifts the "brain fog".
I'm currently looking into it for myself to where I have a past TBI. I also have CPS, CFS, do to a boat load of medical conditions.

I’ve used ketamine for the past year. It is effective for me. Long term? I have no idea, but honestly, I don’t care. It works and it gets me to a place I can function and attend to my depression and anxiety. Suffering on a daily basis has no longevity for me. I choose this. There’s another side to ketamine too. I encourage you to read about experiences with integration. Sounds far out, but that piece is helpful too. Good luck.
