Did you experience pain after a distal pancreatectomy?
Hello,
I underwent a distal pancreatectomy 1/6/2026 to remove a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor. On and off, I often feel like an internal pain near and around my pancreas. Does anyone experience this after having this procedure?

I had a distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy in May 2023 for Stage 3 adenocarcinoma. My scans have been clean for over three years and my CA-19-9 has been 7 and stable. I occasionally have minor discomfort in the area where my spleen was removed. My scans do note a persistent 6.6 x 3.4 cm collection in the surgical bed, abutting the stomach, which is considered a benign postoperative fluid collection. I'm quite sure that the discomfort is due to too much fiber in my diet. It's possible to have it aspirated if I choose. Wondering if this could be the cause of your discomfort. Check you post operative scans if you have them or has your surgeon.
