Does a change in weather cause your PMR to flare?

Posted by jsteck @jsteck, Jun 5, 2025

I woke up in the middle of last night because our dog is afraid of storms and was whining. Well, now I think I am too. This is the third time in as many weeks that I have had a difficult day when it has been storming. Is it in my head or do others here experience the same thing?

When my PMR was active winter was the toughest for me but also had some flares when it got hot in the summer too. I didn't up my prednisone dose but did curb any extra activities I could so as not to aggravate the PMR anymore than it was.

I agree with @johnbishop my PMR is definitely impacted by weather but increasing your prednisone dosage is not an option. I don’t think that everyone is impacted by these changes in weather (or to the same degree)— some of our systems may just be more sensitive. Praying that we are both headed towards remission in the very near future. Blessings! ❤️

I have leveled off at 3 mg. If I try to go down I have flare ups. I agree with Sandi, it stinks that when the weather causes an increase in pain there is nothing we can do about it. We are at dosage with prednisone and my stomach can’t take anymore ibuprofen. Heartburn!!!!
