Do your migraines follow a pattern?
The patterns of my headaches are like riding a rollercoaster. I woke up today with a smile. It’s been long but usually means I’ll be feeling headache free a few days or…? I’ll take it! I’m at the top of the coaster heading down, feeling good.
At the same time I see the next round physical symptoms beginning. I still feel good. Just reaching the bottom of the track and beginning to head up. Then slowly the headaches return, intense but pass faster. Then worse and worse as I head up the track further into the pain. Never ending. Can’t get off.

follow up… woke up smiling today and loved it! Was painting. By this afternoon in bed out of my mind. Just goes to show. Tried guitar. Fell asleep on my ice bag. Out of my mind. Crazy w pain. Well, another day… Smiling to tears. I can not believe I’m saying this and I’m not sure I really fit…
You're not alone. I do have a pattern but it has been shifting over the years. Migraine HA initially started in the wee hours of the morning and I would vaguely recognize what was happening--too late for an abortive. They have gradually moved up and now they appear in the mid-afternoon. Initial onset is nausea and extreme doziness followed by HA. Keeping up with the shifting landscape is a challenge.

Just wondering about the pattern of your headaches. Have you ever kept a journal of your headaches to see if there were any particular foods, drinks, activities, or stressors that might be triggering the headaches?
My pattern is feeling a little “off” dizzy, off balance, anxious. Try an abortive doesn’t help. Next day headache, fatigue, bad then for the next 48-72 hours headache somewhat better but fatigue worse, heart racing fog. Whole episode lasts at least 4 days. Waiting for it to start again is torture. Am on Qulipta, beta blocker, changed my cancer meds and was six weeks migraine free but am now on day 4 of a bad one. I feel disappointed and hopeless. It helps to share.
Oh yes. I document to search for patterns. Weather (thunderstorms) is a trigger. Overload on visual stimulation--crowds, grocery store aisles, crowded restaurants.
I did keep a journal. Actually a few. Stress is my #1 trigger. I had to stop keeping track of my migraines. It was stressing me out. It sounds cynical but it’s true. I just couldn’t do it.
I understand the triggers you described, @migraineelaine. While my migraines are not as severe as those you describe, I have found that visual stimulation (such as action movies or television shows) can create the environment for a vestibular migraine with dizziness and nausea.
