Do not take gabapentin, makes it worse

I have taken gabapentin and Lyrica. I would advise you not to take either as they can sometimes make symptoms worse. Also increase anxiety if you have GAD as I do

It’s proof that all our bodies do not react the same! Lyrica did not help my neuropathy but really helped other nerve pain. But maybe it will help your neuropathy.

I'm 82. I found Gabapentin helped my numb, stinging feet a lot. I took 300mg.3 times a day. When I hurt my back my pain doctor switched me to pregabalin. I take one in the morning and one at night. I think it holds the stinging off better because I was really bad about taking the gabapentin afternoon dose on time.
I like it; it makes me feel happy and I think my feet feel the rug under me better as I go barefoot all the time in the house. (I live in mostly sunny California.)

Thank you. Hearing from others is comforting and appreciated.

Omgoodness I'm on Gabapentin and all my doctor said to me because I have increased neuropathy in my feet and both feet and it's hard to walk and all my doctor said was we can increase your dosage and because I have swelling in my ankles and feet I went to another doctor or foot doctor and he says well we have what we call Lyrica and we can see if that helps I'm so frustrated with the healthcare system from these medical doctors

I don't believe the oncologist that told me that and I don't believe my personal physician either. It appears the whole medical field is pushing this gabanpentin like it's the new miracle drug and I have as yet found anyone who says it works for anything except maybe pain relief. When I mentioned this to the nurse at my Dr.s office she said, "We consider numbness to be pain" They don't want to be wrong and ya can't get a straight answer from any of them... at least the ones I talked to thanks for responding!

My doctor is pushing Gabapentin a higher dosage, I'm on 600 mg three times a day and it's sort of helps but I still have that burning and tingling and stabbing pain and my big toes and all that is every day which is hard to walk on them and all of these so-called doctors can do is continue to push more medicine but not really trying to help me address my issues in terms of what's the best course of action for me as I'm experienced this constant pins and needles tingling and stabbing pain in my feet

Has anyone put on weight with gabapentine?

I gave it a try but It felt it was making my leg pain worse.
And my head is in the clouds anyway.
I did read but haven't tried it yet. Also need to talk to my natropath about GABA which is natural and not to be confused as short for gabapentin.
Magnesium and GABA should work the same as gabapentin but without the side effects..

I've been taking THC oil for 3 years. Just in the last 4 months I've been able to move my toes, not had any stabbing pains or pins and needles.

I’m with you.
I’m experiencing the same symptoms as you, and nothing works.
Gabapentin did nothing for me and the rest of the meds given for neuropathy didn’t work either.
I’m in pain every day, and I can’t stand to walk on my feet.
Any of the shoes and sneakers I’ve bought helped either.
They coast a lot and my feet still hurt when I have them on.
I was on 6oomg also 4 times a day with no relief.
Next week I’m going to a new neurologist in Arizona who specializes in CIDP.
I’m hoping he can help me.
Mayo Clinic turned me down for an appt.
They aren’t giving out any new Neuro appts at this time.
I was kind of hoping to get in there, and maybe they could help me.
