I sympathize. I have had so many cognitive issues with Long Covid and some are difficult to describe. Thick headed, brain fog, vertigo, memory loss, fatigue are some of the words but they don't quite capture or describe the experience. Thanks heavens, I have a Dr. who believes in LC and he is optimistic that I will get better. I had Covid in March of this year and seven months later, I am still having these symptoms though I do see some small improvement. Dr. advises me to exercise which has been very hard to do as it is painful to walk due to some other health issues that cause painful legs when walking. It is challenging to not get depressed and discouraged . This support group has been informative and helpful. However, when I hear of people who have been suffering for 5 years, it is scary that this will never go away. I practice loving kindness for myself and everyone here who is suffering. My mantra is May I care for my body and I do the best I can. Take care as best you can.

@harshguptajain I am the same! I can relate totally! I hope someone here will shed some light on this condition - I don’t even know if it has a name!

@harshguptajain I can’t pinpoint a time when it started. I have just realized this recently. I can read short articles, etc. but I cannot retain much when reading books. I used to have a “photographic” memory when I read something, but now I can’t even memorize a verse. Some days what I read is perfectly clear; other days I could be reading just words. It’s difficult to explain. I’ve just accepted it as “mental ADHD”. Perhaps too many thoughts competing with each other …?

Hi @harshguptajain. So sorry you are on this fellow journey as I couldnt even think to add few numbers other day😞 Your description as also @shario I think you”ll find many supportive members here with many descriptive and severities of these
“ cognitive functioning and perception issues” that are ever changing and many triggers related to individual medical histories/lifestyles/
environment…... May I suggest you use the search finder for that under this post covid area to lessen your reading taking up precious energy as think many here proven direct correlation to your physical activities time/levels, food intolerances inflammation…, actions and noise around you ….. that affects those frustrating issues further🙃. It does get better with finding your triggers to avoid/change, diligent pacing if possible, and constant giving yourself grace/realistic time like over hour typing editing this🙃/ laughing at yourself that this frustration dealing in one moment will be better in a later one constantly leading to your recovery. Quickest healing to you🌈

@harshguptajain
I have a similar experience since Covid shots and infection. It is harder to pay attention, listen, process, etc. and my personality seems flat. I am not my former self at all. It does feel like I am not able to think or feel as deeply as I once was able to. I am now in my mid 50s. Not sure if a combination of Covid, hormone changes, depression, chronic pain (spine/nerve issues), etc. My brain is definitely not the same and feel like my former self was hijacked.

@harshguptajain Sometimes I don’t comprehend what I read either.

Somewhat related, they are now acknowledging hearing loss as a Long COVID symptom. I heard this recently at a Recovery Session.
Might be a good idea to get your hearing checked if possible in your situation

Same here, I have to read it 2 or 3 times and it still doesn't make sense. I hate COVID!!!!
