diagnosed with diffuse mixed polyneuropathy

I had an EMG due to severe neuropathy but was diagnosed with diffuse mixed polyneuropathy. Anyone know what this means?

Welcome @bfm, Here's some information on the condition.
"A polyneuropathy is a diffuse peripheral nerve disorder that is not confined to the distribution of a single nerve or a single limb and typically is relatively symmetrical bilaterally. Electrodiagnostic tests should always be done to classify the nerve structures involved, distribution, and severity of the disorder and thus help identify the cause. Treatment is directed toward correcting the cause."

@dadcue mentioned having the same or similar condition in another discussion here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/842749/ and may have some thoughts to add.

There are many discussions and comments from members who have mentioned being diagnosed with polyneuropathy. Here is the link that lists the discussions and comments if you would like to scan through them - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/?search=polyneuropathy.

If you don't mind sharing, what symptoms do you have with your polyneuropathy?

@johnbishop I have pain, numbness and tingling in both feet. It feels like I have metal plates on the bottom of my feet, both hands are numb and painful and I am unable to close my hands when I get up in the morning. I do have S1 radiculopathy and will be receiving epidural injection on Wednesday. L4-L5 show radiculopathy. My balance has been affected by this. I was placed on Gabapentin 300mg at bedtime but the side effects are brain fog really bad, concentration is horrible and I want to stop it. I see my PCP on Tuesday to discuss all this.

I have Sjogren's, Small fiber Neuropathy, (from the Sjogren's and no pain) and balance problems from my autonomic nervous system. I do not have reticulopathy. I was given pregamblin for lower back pain but had to stop it because it is removed by the kidneys and mine are wimpy. It was giving me virtigo. I would suggest you read up thouroughly on any thing the Dr. gives you so to know what to expect. Our Mentor, John, gave me the idea to try Myofasia Release which is coming up soon. I will let you know how it goes.

Thank you and I will be speaking, with a list of questions, to my PCP on Tuesday.
