Depression only in negative circumstances?

Posted by robertwills @robertwills, Apr 11 10:08am

Does anyone have depression when they are not looking forward to certain things but have no depression when looking forward to enjoyable things? Like for example, you have a very difficult day ahead so you feel depressed and it's hard getting out of bed. Then another day you are taking an exciting day trip so you wake up early ready to go and feel great. Does anyone know of this phenomena?

@robertwills anxiety not depression.
Depression is a thing that doesn’t go poof one day to the next.
Anxiety about a particular circumstance is short term.

As someone else mentioned, you may be feeling anxiety related to certain task rather then depression. Depression and anxiety sometimes occur together. I am treated for both, but my anxiety varies depending on what is happening in my life.

I think this Mayo Health System article gives a good description of both with suggestions on how to handle:

How do you handle the difficult days?
