I am so depressed and my psychiatrist has had me on every antidepressant known to man. He now encourages ECT. It would require multiple 60 mile trips several times a week and that would require transportation. I live alone and I’m worried about side effects. I Thomas Knowlton following up with progress about my wife going through ECT treatments. She is a 95-pound Chinese woman who doesn't speak English, so there was a good bit of natural trepidation - in addition to random paranoia - on her part being in a foreign setting. As I mentioned at onset I was apprehensive about what about her response to ECT therapy having read several dozens of posted experiences mostly not positive.
So far, results have been encouraging. I don't know what to expect as an ultimate outcome yet. However, wife's health with eating/ drinking, taking vitamins, and mental acuity following rounds of ECT have improved. Whatever the outcome, the people at all levels of her support staff have been terrific.
I will advise futher when we are near enough to finish that I can see an outcome. Appreciative of comments, experiences and insights. Thanks

I have a friend who takes antidepressants with little success, so he has decided to try TMS. I may try it myself. There are two Mayo clinic videos on YouTube about TMS and they explain about it. IT's been approved by the FDA and TMS seems to have good results, check out the Mayo clinic videos with DR, Kahn.

No, my doctor doesn’t want me to use ketamine
I found it very effective, perhaps you should seek a 2nd opinion. Just a thought, wishing you the best 🙂
I found ECT to be very helpful. Can you get it inpatient?
Yes. It did not go well and did not help at all
