Does anyone find decrease in swelling after tapering prednisone?
Swollen feet and ankles moon face and severe bruising?

I have not experienced swelling in feet and ankles. After tapering to 10 mg, my moon face disappeared. The wrinkles came back, but I'm ok with that. When I look in the mirror, I look more like myself! I am currently on 9.5 mg and the bruising continues. The slightest bump causes a bruise. I have to fully concentrate on my task at hand and not try to do many things at once, my former usual mode. I do wear long sleeves and wear gloves for many tasks.

Not so much - yet, but I sincerely hope the moon face and donut neck take a hike.

I have successfully avoided the mirror from 15mg to current 10mg. I looked today and not so bad!
I have however, experienced hair loss and a couple chipped teeth. I am achy at present but I believe that may be due to barometric pressure.

Has anybody tried a water pill to help with the swelling from prednisone? Or isn’t that an option? I’m newly diagnosed so it’s probably already been answered. Thanks

Welcome @carlotta, I have been on Hydrochlorothiazide for my high blood pressure along with another medication when my PMR was active but I'm not sure about a water pill or other diuretic. I would definitely discuss it with your doctor before taking any.

You mentioned being newly diagnosed with PMR. You might find the following discussion helpful:

Do you keep a daily log of your prednisone dosage along with your pain level when you get up in the morning?

Thanks. I don’t keep a log but will start. Thanks. I’ll look up the other info. Appreciate your help

Someone recommended Arnicare gel for bruising. Just started 2 days ago.

REPLY

I had been told by a friend that Arnicare gel eliminated the bruising.
Was a little skeptical! Oh yeah????

I started using the gel about a week ago, the severe large purple bruises on my legs are almost gone! Oh my God!!!
I love her!
