Decisions about dialysis

My husband may refuse dialysis. If I say or do the wrong thing, he will dig his heels in. Not at all knowing how handle this.

Hi @angiede2001,

I'm one of the moderators of the Kidney & Bladder group, and I just wanted to jump in and tell you that it’s absolutely okay to talk about the stresses of your concerns and decisions. I have not been in a 'caregiver' situation, but I do know that you can’t take care of someone else if you’re not taking care of yourself.
We often burden ourselves with this long list of self-imposed feelings of guilt or selfishness, but truly all you are doing is loving and wanting the best for your husband.

I'm so happy to see that you've joined our Caregivers group, and I know you will find kinship and relief with others who know just what you're going through.

Yes! We are here to listen; share with us, lean on the Connect community, and keep talking...and, as I've seen so often in Connect, the strength of this community of support may end up being all that you want.

Seeking input, communication, and sharing experiences is never whining! I know what you mean, though. When I sought to share with family members they often accused me of 'whining' and 'seeking attention'. It's what brought me to Connect!
