I am looking for answers to what anyone has found to successfully treat my pain from fibromyalgia. Getting desperate.

I feel for you! I was going on 1 mile walks again after a laminectomy and then a couple months later they removed a tumor and hit me hard with chemotherapy. The side effects were expected but I did chair yoga in recovery.
5 years later I’m back to chair yoga because of the neuropathy, fibromyalgia and arthritis.
The only thing that makes me start moving is the lowest dosage of Oxycodone even though it seems like 90 mg Duloxetine, 200 mg Celecoxib, 600 mg Gabapentine and lots of lidocaine daily. I’ve tried CBD with THC for sleep but can’t handle THC. It works for a lot of people. The art of distraction/meditation is vital. Good luck with your journey 🫶🏻

Meditation, liquid mind music, gentle stretching, positive thoughts always, avoiding toxic ppl, massage and diaphragmatic breathing wk bc they lower cortisol and Adrenalin which cause pain.

Any sightings for overall joint pain- long haul Covid probably due to my arthritis- 2+ years now! ApCodine helps but makes me dizzy! Any suggestions?

Same, mostly. I have been on Cymbalta for about 2 + years now? It definitely has calmed my pain greatly. Not completely, but it's less debilitating, ex.; screaming in pain all night long feeling like my femur was being crushed in a vise - slowly. Cymbalta isn't great for everyone though, and in the beginning gave me very dark feelings, which was quite upsetting. try to start a low dosage if you can, should you choose to try. Otherwise, yes, I still have daily chronic pain, so I just need to rest more, in short increments, or simply when I need to. I try to exercise, but sometimes it can cause a flare, especially if I do too much for a couple days and under much stress. in those situations, I just try to be kind to myself, and concentrate on self care. I'm trying to get into a pool club now, they've all been closed due to covid. one warning about rest- don't let yourself become TOO immobilized for days at a time, as you would then be at risk for blood clots, potentially. I'm looking into (REAL) CBD w/ very low THC as I believe his is hugely helpful. I really want to get a topical, it's just not legal in my state yet. good luck!

Cymbalta hasn’t helped me at all. No pharma drugs have and I’ve had them all. I now use CBD/THC it’s been very helpful. I have a lot of pain issues too long to list apart from fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue. If you want to go down that track. Ensure you study cannabis & the terpenes that are helpful. I found Cold creek Kush & Rocky work well for me. There’s a lot of uneducated Drs prescribing cannabis that does not help.

I've lived with FM for about same as you. I use stretch bands, elliptical, bike & free weights @ gym 2-3 times a week. I've lost over 30 lbs. the past three years. I've been swimming 2 x a week for several months. And I've been eating healthier the past few years. Berries & greens help FM I think. I have to ease into my days usually & sometimes have to push myself to get to the gym. But I don't give up, although the pain does get discouraging. Best to all.

Stretch bands are the best. The first thing I do when I wake up is drink water then do 30 minutes stretching with & without bands.

Massage therapy helps me, especially myofascial release and trigger point pressure on the worst joints. Also, daily stretching and walking.
I get out of bed every morning, no matter how awful I feel. Eat breakfast, shower, get dressed. By that time my body wakes up a little and I do some chores or take a walk. Certainly I will stop and rest when I feel the need, but I find sitting and/or lying down too much seems to "feed the pain" whereas mild activity can make me not notice it so much. Regular bedtime, no TV in the room, just read for a bit. Also, I get higher quality sleep if I stay up as much as possible every day. I would characterize my fibro as sort of mild, with exacerbations from time to time. I have lived with it, with varying levels of severity for over 35 years, even before most doctors believed it existed.

In 2004 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia by a very good rheumatologist. I never really bought the diagnosis because after years of dealing with what was diagnosed as fibromyalgia, another condition would arise, and when that is fixed, the fibromyalgia goes away. This has happened on several occasions. One thing I’ll suggest to look into is if you have high uric acid levels which indicate you have an inflammatory condition like gout, arthritis. You can try tart cherry capsules. I like ZAZZEE brand on Amazon for 20 bucks. I learned about it from this online forum. It was a miracle it got rid of my inflammatory condition which is part of my fibromyalgia. It turns out I have gout arthritis so I went on the allopurinol medicine and I don’t have fibromyalgia at this time. When I first was diagnosed with a fibromyalgia, I was recovering from a hepatitis C medicine protocol. There were a lot of side effects from the disease as well as the medication to fix it. After time and getting back into an exercise regime, that is basically aerobic walking and deep breathing, my fibromyalgia went into remission. Also acupuncture not just one, but a series of acupuncture will stimulate your circulation and I felt that that put my fibromyalgia into remission. Today I am using a MFR therapist (deep myofascial tissue release) and that does wonders. There’s a lot of things and it is a unique road to walk so ask and try and please don’t give up.

@gail4 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! We are patients, family members, and caregivers [sometimes holding more than one role!] and share our experiences and health journeys.

Can you tell me what type of pain you experience, and what you have tried so far? What has your rheumatologist talked to you about as far as the pain? While I also have a fibromyalgia diagnosis, there are other things going on, too. Frankly, it's hard for me to figure out just what is the root cause of my painful days, which thing it might be! Do you have days like that? Some days I just want a warm shower, other times stuff me under a blanket and let me sit! Other times Tylenol or a light dose of CBD is needed. Even a relaxing half hour and cuppa hot tea can be nice.

What a lovely welcome to a new group! I am a newbie here and your comment is the first one I saw! I feel personally welcomed! 😁 Although I know your remarks were not directed specifically at me, I still thank you very much. I feel welcomed here already! Hi everyone! I am Becca. I was dxd with Fibromyalgia and Lupus 30+ years ago and still have not found a single thing that takes the pain away. I dislike imparting such negative opinions but it is the honest truth as I know it. I've tried everything from Aspirin to Fentanyl to everything in between. Every fruit, every herb, every flower, every mask, every smoothie, every diet, every concoction, EVERYTHING!
Sleep and rest and eat as healthy as you can but have the dessert, have the treats. Pamper yourself! You deserve it! Find at least one thing to distract yourself from the pain. I keep a Journal. I'm very strict on myself about writing in it. Even if it's only one word. That's my rule. Just write one word a day no matter what. Write about your pain. Describe your pain. What color is it? Name it. What do you want to do to it? How? With what? You get my drift. You could also do beaded jewelry. I do bracelets and sometimes necklaces. People always want to buy them! So I tell them where to go to pick out what beads/colors and charms they would like and I provide the base bracelet and voila, you have a little business just by doing a little hobby that you enjoy! Not to mention that your mind is now off of your pain. 🥳 I know it's not that easy and I did not mean to take your pain lightly because I share your pain. It's a second by second battle. Take the next breath, take the next breath . . .
It's that bad and I'm so 😔 sorry for all of us that are suffering daily, nightly, second by second with this unending burden. There are no words. We call ourselves Warriors and that we are!! 💜

@beccag1015 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect!

Today is one of those days to wrap up in a warm blanket and look forward to the coming spring weather that we all know is right around the corner. It never ceases to impress me how the weather influences how my body feels each day! We have had snow showers and rain most of the day here, and I am distracting myself by being creative in my little project room

Journaling is a great way to get things off your mind and address issues you need to. Here is a discussion we started a while ago: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/journaling-the-write-stuff-for-you/ I also keep a journal, and just treated myself to a couple of new ones. Nope, don't really need a new one, but it's a treat to myself.

We all are Warriors in the battles we face. Thanks for that reminder!

Other than the journal, we are almost identical. Tried all doctors prescribed. Only relief I get is 1/2 Norco if I get out for half a day and 1 Norco if I’m going to be out the whole day. Gentle hugs 🤗 to all Warriors.
