Has anybody here in this group been diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer?

Thank you, my regular doctor is just gonna watch it, but I have a follow up with the surgeon at the end of the month. We’ll see what they say. It might be fluid or a benign cyst… I know the body doesn’t like empty spots. I’m doing OK after the radiation. I just didn’t expect my skin not to go completely back to normal. It’s still kind of pink with like scar tissue from the treatment, but I figured if this keeps me cancer free I’ll do it. It’s just weird. But I am grateful. I appreciate you.

How many treatments did you have?
I am wrestling with closing between 5 consecutive, probably stronger and 15 total lesser strength, but longer period……

As you probably know, radiation is used after surgery to reduce the risk that the cancer will come back.
About options for radiation, you might want to read comments in this discussion:

Do you have a date when providers want to start radiation?

I see her again on the 28th…..they were ruling out a suspicious node and they did, so am sure it’s right around the corner….

So, what length of radiation did u have…..
Had surgery 12/6/24…..estrogen and progesterone negative, grade 3 ……Radiation choices are 16 day or 5 day of stronger rads……
Trying to decide which and what would be repercussions if I do 5 days?

Honestly I did 20 rounds Monday through Friday and that was not hard at all. I finished them back on July 10 of 2024 and I have no regrets. It was not hard at all for me. You will feel fatigue, but that fades away.

I had 5 consecutive days, 600 cGy each, total 3000 cGy. I think they are now doing 5 days but spacing them out with a day in between at the facility I went to. I had no skin issues.

Thanks for your comments, I also would love to hear from someone who did it in 5 days, which is one I have been offered……
You being so recent gives me less anxiety about it…..
