Any experiences with Cryoablation for renal cell carcinoma (RCC)?
New diagnosis of RCC and am considering Cryoablation. Does anyone have experience with this treatment?

Thank you so much for the referral. I will call him. I am on the east coast but this is worth the trip!
My son is an interventional radiologist who went to med school at Weill Cornell in NYC. If you like, i can ask him if he knows anyone in the Tri State Area. Or you can call Kohlbrenner for a referral in the Tri State area.

Thank you for your helpful response, Colleen. The appointment coordinator set me up with an appointment for scans and tests and an evaluation with a urologist in Rochester. I am still trying to determine if the urologist or the interventional radiologist is the provider to evaluate the mass for cryoablation.
I have not had a biopsy as both providers consulted here in NYC wanted to go right to the procedure as was @sonshine161 experience.
I am curious to know if anyone can share how long/hard the recovery from partial nephrectomy was for them? I am drawn to the cryoablation for the recovery time and the success rate. The data on each procedure seems to be based on 5 year survival so cryoablation is a great choice for the first step IMHO.
Serendipity! I would value your son's opinion if he does feel strongly about an east coast colleague. Your experience with Kohlbrenner carries a lot of weight, too, however!

1 ReactionMy son said he's been gone too long from Weill Cornell to make a referral. I suggest following up with Kohlbrenner or one of the major medical institutions closer to you.
