Covid with pulmonary fibrosis

82 year-old hubby was having more than his usual breathing problems Tuesday night, so we tested him for Covid and sure enough he has it. I have also had it for a week now, so no surprise, because I’ve been taking care of him since he’s been recovering from kyphoplasty surgery a month ago.
I put a text message in to his doctor on his “my chart” to ask whether we should see him or go to the ER Wednesday. Any suggestions? He can’t drive because he’s on painkillers and muscle relaxers. I don’t know if I’m allowed in the doctor’s office or the hospital with having Covid. Any suggestions? Do you think he should take Paxlovid like I am?

Hope your doctor got back to you promptly. If not, I would call them and talk to someone. One has to take the antiviral within 5 days so one does not want to wait.

Yes, thanks Vic; I picked up his Paxlovid yesterday and he took his first set of pills last night -- on the same day that I was done with mine. I think it's helping.
