COVID & Allergies

Posted by katpetlover @katpetlover, 2 days ago

Has anyone experienced severe allergies since having COVID? My husband got COVID in April 2022 and since then has suffered with severe allergies which he never had before. He has tried every over the counter med, uses NetiPot and NAVAGE, prescriptions from doctor and still no relief. Anyone have a drug or procedure they have found helpful?

katpetlover, I understand. I am also having more sinus infections since COVID.

The ENT doctor wrote me a prescription (it has to be compounded in a compounding pharmacy) for Mupirocin (20 mg)/Budesonide (0.6mg). It costs about $60 for 60 capsules. You use the NeilMed Sinus rinse saline solution
with distilled water, open the prescribed capsule and pour into the saline solution and shake the bottle. You
then irritgate your sinuses twice a day. This has worked wonders to keep me from going on oral antibiotics.

I hope the ENT doctor will prescribe this for your husband. Sinus infections are miserable. Blessings & Prayers...

I think I have more allergies since covid. My ENT prescribed me nasal spray too, but it’s drying. He referred me to Allergist. I hope I can get relief.

Hi @katpetlover. May I also suggest histamine reactions can present as allergies in many ways that seems many of us have developed since covid. Johns Hopkins has great concise low histamine diet pdf maybe to review🤞. Quickest healing to you🌈

Since having Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, another post viral infection syndrome, my daughter, now age 57, is allergic to glutin, chicken eggs, cow dairy products including milk, all grains (barley, rye, oats), corn, and a few vegetables and fruits. She is not allergic to rice, rice milk or rice protein, uses almond milk in addition to rice milk. So yes, there have been serious changes. On the other hand, what can she eat? Most proteins excepting cow dairy, she can eat without problem goat and sheep dairy products including yogurt and cheeses, most vegetables, most fruits. We've both learned to read the fine print on ingredient labels. She does not have any respiratory allergies. Her allergies show up in her digestive tract, she feels awful after eating something that she is allergic to.
