Could I have developed a hernia?

Posted by lorrie48 @lorrie48, May 15 6:17am

I have an ultrasound appointment and a pulmonology appointment next week to address my concerns, but I was wondering if anyone in this group has ever developed a hernia from coughing and, if so, what it felt like. Thank you for any input.

can ultrasound show hernia? I have coughing fits from time to time and my head hurts, especially when I woke up in the morning as I always cough.

I had my ultrasound this morning, and results came back an hour ago. It showed an anterior abdominal wall hernia.

Interesting! I have coughed a lot for many years. I used to occasionally get a very sharp pain around my ribs under left breast. Never knew what it was, but when I was diagnosed with a hernia I realised that it was the sliding type and that that was what the sharp pain was. I was advised to try to avoid surgery. The hernia was picked up more than once. When I went off PPIs and reflux was very bad I thought I would consider surgery and had an endoscopy...they could find no hernia! I had read that there was a technique you could use to try to release the sliding hernia (to pull the area down and away)...and I had been doing that technique...but I was unprepared to find it gone! I have recently had a barium swallow done as well...and the hernia didn't show on that either.

Can you explain the technique that you used?

I have to research "sliding hernia" to find out exactly what it is. Curious, also, about your technique for "releasing" it. So much to learn before I take that next step, whatever it is.

I had heard someone knew someone who had had chiropractor 'fix' a hiatus hernia...so I went exploring. I found some information on the Web and just tried it myself. There was nothing very sophisticated about it...and I would do it occasionally and if the symptoms were particularly bad.

Have just found this link which I will paste. Good luck with it...it can't hurt. 🙂
