Cost of stem cell therapy at Mayo

Posted by talan @talan, Apr 6, 2017

I am having stem cell therapy on my left knee tomorrow. I did not realize Mayo was doing this already. For those of you who have had this done at Mayo, what was the cost? If you wanted to be part of the research, how do you get into that?

local Dr in Toledo. They work with Regenexx. Had my back done with PRP and its been 6 years and no problems. I would recommend PRP as the first thing i would do. It is expensive but some people are now getting insurance. I noticed the dermatology offices are giving PRP to women to grow hair.

l 4 and l 5 were rubbing. Steroids quit working. Then i discovered PRP. He injected it, told me to take it easy for 2 weeks. I did not , and been pain free for years. My friends did not want to pay cash so they chose surgery and it has not worked. Oh well. I tend to not want surgery. Yes, it can be expensive but it has taken care of my arthritis, and it worked on my back pain. Every am i hit the floor, stretch and go play golf or garden or bike.

If you are able to go to a hospital working or doing a research study in area you need stem cells, I don't not believe there is cost to you yet each hospital research instution is different and can vary, I would call the big mayor hospitals. NO Cost to you. Check major hospitals.

Anyone have this in their ankle? I’m coming from Canada shopping around between Mayo Rochester and Phoenix. Way cheaper for me to get to Phoenix. I’ll go anywhere though. I’m bone on bone as well and need cartilage.

I have a torn Gluteus Medius tendon after my chair collapsed in January of 2023. I have had 2 PRP's, the first one in January of this year, costing $1000, but the doctor did not use ultrasound and just injected into my hip...that one failed after 4 weeks...the second one, occurring in April of this year, cost me $1900, which was instituted using ultrasound to target the correct areas and which also included the second injury of the Left Labral tear. That one was going well with walking without a cane and no pain until an osteopath did an extreme adjustment in the area and reinstitute major pain for the next 6 weeks. Now, I am very slowly seeming to heal, although lifting a heavy object this week reinstituted acute pain once again. It seems that this stem cell use can certainly help to heal those difficult anatomies. But it is the new major income producer for physicians as it has not yet been approved by the FDA, and lies outside of insurance reimbursement.

Since I notice that Mayo Clinic is categorizing PRP Stem Cell into a research entity, I am hoping that the research will continue into a recognization by the Federal Government to give it a possibility of being covered by insurance.
