Copd lung infection
I have been sick for over a month with some king of lung infection. I have been on 3 round of prednisone and antibiotics. Have developed thrus and yeast infection thru out this time.
My question is could I have some kind of fungus infection in my lungs. Is this what is cause all the problems?

Not being a doctor, I don’t know. But here was my experience with penicillium a fungus in my left lung. I started having shortness of breath back in June and my pulmonologist prescribed prednisone and a z pac. Took for several days- no change- stayed on the Pred and antibiotics for 3 weeks/ no change. My pulmonologist then had me in the hospital to do a bronchoscope of lung. She took samples and the answer came back a short time later- fungus. Went on Voriconazole for 90 days- with monthly blood tests for liver- thank God none of that. SOB was gone.
@cathy58 - One of the unwelcome side effects of repeat courses of antibiotics for lung infections is susceptibility to fungal infections.
They are not helped by either prednisone or antibiotics, and require specific treatment at described by @ktf
It's probably time to visit the doc and get evaluated.

Yes I agree and have visited with my pulmonologist and since things are not getting better he feels that I need to be scoped. I just worry because I have had this done before and I have a bad gagging reflex but my chest is tight short of breath especially with just walking to the kitchen that I need to know what’s wrong nothing is helping.
They can use a very short acting paralytic to help with the gag reflex. Just let them know when you schedule. It may require a short stay in a same day surgical center
Have you explained your concern to the doc?
Sue
Cathy 58 I had a fungus in my lung before. I am curious of how your test come out. I wish you all the best.
Still waiting. Dr said it could take up to 30 days for results to come back. Thank you for asking
My husband is experiencing the same thing. He also had pneumonia. They are finally going to look into possible COPD. This has been going on for 6 months. My husband was in Desert Storm with buring oil fields and burn pits.
