Constant tinnitus: Are there any solutions?

It there any solution for constant tinnitis?

I have high pitched tones constantly though I have learned to ignore it mostly.

It can become louder at times, even loud enough to make me wince!

@mari

I probably have a mild case of tinnitus - but, I just drink distilled water, it goes away. Also, I know if I eat salty food I'll get tinnitus.

Yes only very minor tinnitus prior to vaccine and now very loud pulsating tinnitus which changes in volume through the day. I am grateful when it subsides to low hissing. Started approximately 9 days after the vaccine. On second course of steroids and just found out today adding Sudafed really reduces the noise. Doing research, I think for me it’s a Eustachian tube issue as my ears and lower neck hurt at times. When my ears pop gets better. Going on 5 weeks of this. Have appt Mayo Arizona late May 2021. Had hearing test at local ENT office no hearing loss so far. Any recommendations until I can be seen? I am also allergy sufferer so having that checked at Mayo as well. Found a Facebook group with over 1400 people with same experience.

@gator123, you're right that some medications can cause or worsen tinnitus. See more talk about this in the discussion Julie started here:

I have had Pulsatile Tinnitus in my left ear for about 2 years now swishing noise always there. Now 2 days ago when I lay down always on my right side I'm hearing a thumping noise that is real fast. I have seen an ENT for the left ear had MRI noting wrong. Now going to see her for the right ear. Does anyone else have this?

It’s gotten so bad for me have had for over 15 years. TERRIBLE when I wake up, like it’s the only thing my brain has listened to all night and it takes a while for it to tone down. It’s really a kind of torture, such loud screeching, high pitched sounds. Loud noises really affect now too, painful and dulls down my hearing.
Hard when family can’t understand what I’m going through and get upset with me because of all the noise in my ears/head.

Good evening @gator123, Tinnitus.......what a devil of an irritant day and night. I have had it for several years and it has gone from my left ear to my right ear. However, I have to tell you that one of the extra benefits of my new hearing aids is that they do quiet the tinnitus. I even wear them overnight when the tinnitus is so loud I don't think I will get to sleep. It also evens out to one sound and even that is dampened quite a bit.

I can't believe I have been dealing with it for years. It even seems like after this long I kind of become used to it and it is not so irritating. Perhaps you could just wear your iPods and listen to music all day. My hearing aids pair with my iPad so I have music accompaniment.

May you be free, safe and protected from inner and outer harm.
Chris
