constant ear ringing -

Posted by marlk @marlk, Nov 28, 2023

New to me - Started as redness in ear, feeling full and ringing. 10 days of drops. Seemed to help but still ringing - sometimes awful. Anyone with advice?

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Support Group.

I assume you have been to an ENT doctor. I have had tinnitus in both ears for about 7 years now. Salt & Caffeine make the ringing worse. By redness in the ear, do you mean an ear infection? Did your eardrums rupture by chance? I have been blessed to be able to tune out the ringing.....but, it has affected my hearing greatly. I pray that you find relief and answers for this.

@marlk You will find more information about tinnitus (ear ringing) in the 'Hearing Loss Support Group'. Tinnitus often accompanies hearing loss, but not always. It's a relatively common problem. While it may be brought on by an ear infection, it's often the result of excessive noise exposure. Unfortunately, there is no cure at this point but research is being done. In many cases, it dissipates and/or the person who experiences it learns to ignore it.

I hope you are one of the lucky ones! Have you had your hearing tested?

Hearing seems to be ok and noise is better. Have husband with severe hearing problems but has hearing aids now so TV is at normal volume.
