I've mentioned before that chasing after nutrition hacks to control our cancer is usually a dead end, but I acknowledge that it can sometimes give people a feeling of control when their lives seem out of control.
In the case of pomegranate extract (or similar antioxidants), early single-arm phase II studies suggested some benefit for prostate cancer, but when they subjected it to a rigorous phase III trial, it fell apart completely for most of us, and in retrospect they discovered how the earlier, smaller studies were flawed. There was, however, an exception for a few patients with a specific genotype, where they couldn't rule out a very small benefit from antioxidants like pomegranate or grape juice:

The problem is that people jump on the early-phase studies as if they were conclusive proof of something, and then keep sharing them long after they're debunked by later research. You can't unring the bell once an idea gets out there on the internet.
Then again, they also found no harm, and pomegranate juice is tasty, so if you like it, go for it!

10 ReactionsAlthough pomegranate is good for many health benefits including prostate it probably will not slow down PSA progression. There are so many things that "could" help but nothing has really been proven, white button & some other mushrooms, grape seed extract, curcumin , etc etc. I do believe in vitamins & supplements and take several myself. Hopefully some day they will find something natural that will help with prostate cancer.
