I'm one of those who do not fear saturated fats. I cook my morning eggs in butter and coconut oil. I eat lots of red meat. My blood lipids are all in the healthy range. I avoid carbohydrates as they raise blood lipids when overconsumed.

1 Reaction@obsessiveboy30, I also was wondering what your question was so I thought I would share a couple of Mayo Clinic videos on saturated fats to see if they help provide information that helps.

4 ReactionsCorrect. As in all foods, including wine, moderation is the key to balance. For instance, hoping to lower my blood pressure which was a bit high, I stopped eating salt almost completely, only to create a condition of "low sodium", as diagnosed in my blood work.

1 ReactionWhen I first joined this study, in addition to a few other topics, I was hoping there would be a "nutrition" topic. Sub topics from there would be things like explaining saturated and unsaturated fats, which are better for. For me, I am constantly watching out for foods that increase inflammation, or eating certain foods together will help absorb more of the vitamins from those foods. However, we all different with different nutritional needs. In my opinion, the original comment about saturated fats had more to do with trying to understand the bad options from the good, or better choice. Perhaps I misunderstood but I, too, have to stop and think about the choice I make when cooking. My husband has a heart condition that I also need to keep in mind when preparing our meals. The comment made about everything in moderation is a good reminder.
