Conflicting advice on exercise

Posted by sheilad1 @sheilad1, Dec 9, 2022

I was told exercise must be weight bearing and impact like walking dancing and marching in place. This says weight bearing but easy on the impact.

Is weight bearing but not impact ok? My knees would appreciate that.

@ritatripp be careful! We don't know how severe your osteoporosis is.....I do tai chi and it helps and is gentle.

How do you know it is helping? Has your Dexa score improved?

Tai chi is not going to significantly improve DEXA. It improves balance and strength, helps prevent falls, and helps with pain. It extends my neck and helps straighten my posture (I already have fractures). It also helps breathe properly.

The program teaches you everything you could possibly need to know about bone health and building stronger bones. Like I said you have to see the amount of content they have to understand how extensive it is. How to slow the process down how to identify the causes the coaches are experts and all functional medicine practitioners who have studied this for years.

If you have any doubts then I wouldn’t move forward but for me I knew what support I needed and was willing to take the risk. Once I saw what the program offered I was blown away way more than I could even have imagined

Yes I did see the content. I understand what they are claiming but without science behind it you don't know if they are correct in their assumptions about reducing fractures. Functional medicine is very controversial

It's not that I have doubts. I just have questions.

Basically it's a functional medicine approach to osteoporosis. I respect functional medicine. I am asking how do they measure their results? Without that it's mostly theoretical. But I'm Doing it because it makes sense. Functional medicine is controversial but I have heard of good results with functional medicine treatment in general.

Does anyone have experience with the program Osteo-Strong?

Great! I am a little overwhelmed by all of the information and I’m taking the tour but I couldn’t get an appointment until next week. Can you just point me to where the diet section is? Thank you so much.
