Cancer Lung Nodule and Enlarged Lymph Nodes
Hi everyone,
I am new here, and this is my first post.
I am a 68 F, healthy, and have never smoked. A lung nodule was found incidentally during a heart scan I had last November. My pulmonologist ordered a CT scan in December, which showed a 1.1 × 1.0 cm subsolid nodule and a 0.9 cm
lymph node that the radiologist
believed was likely due to
inflammation. My doctor
recommended a follow-up CT scan
in six months.
I had the new CT scan in early July this year. The lung nodule had grown slightly to 1.3 × 1.0 cm and is now described as spiculated. The lymph node remained stable. I had a PET scan last week. The lung nodule showed minimal SUV uptake, but
three enlarged lymph nodes (about 1 cm each, 2 of them were not mentiond in the July CT report) showed very high SUV levels—all over 12.
I am really anxious about what this could means. Has anyone experienced a similar situation?
Thank you!

Hello @faith3981, welcome to Mayo Connect. Your scan shows growth, but minimal. That's a GOOD thing, it gives you time to work through the next steps. Most lung nodules are not cancerous. Did the surgeon have any recommendations for you? Possibly a biopsy?
Hi, how are you doing? Any news? This is a scary moment but you will go through it. Let us know.
