mysophiecat986,
more endocrinologists are extending Forteo.
The bone units created by the pth drugs continue to add bone for about three months after you stop taking it.
If you have serum bone markers taken, you'll understand whether there is a balance between bone building and bone resorption. CTX/P1NP is the best clue about whether continuing Forteo would advantage your bones.
I'm sorry to hear about those fractures. They really can be life changing.
You've probably considered vertebroplasty or fusion. I've heard of people having vertebroplasty 40 years after a fracture and experiencing resolution of the pain.
The endocrinologist I see decided that I should just stay on Forteo. The serum markers agree with him.
@mysophiecat986 I fractured my T9 in 2019 and and then my T7 in 2021 I'm always in back pain. I've done PT. I've done shots of lidocaine trigger point shots. I walk every day about 8000 steps. I've tried all kinds of braces. I try ice and heat. I have chronic back pain. I try standing up straight and now trying tai chi online and because I have osteoporosis. I just took an infusion of RECLASTI drink 10+ glasses of water a day because I make kidney stones -I'm on a low oxalate diet and also low salt diet so I won't make more kidney stones. I had an operation and removed a lot of them in 2022 and I have two on each side and hoping they won't get larger because surgery would be very difficult as I cannot lie flat or I will have aspiration problems. I had aspirational pneumonia last July. I took swallowing lessons and do exercises. Every day, I do exercise exercises for swallowing, and I do exercises with bands, sitting, lying and standing.I used to hike and swim and because I had an esophagectomy in 2019 I can't do any of those things. I'm so busy taking care of myself with food. I've become 99% vegan and drinking the correct amount of filtered water. I'm prediabetic and hypoglycemic so I have a lot of things to take into consideration. I'm probably gonna start PT and lifting of weights under supervision because I lost 8% of my bone in 2 1/2 years due to taking omeprazole the highest dose twice a day so that I won't have reflux. I'm on an extremely careful diet. I wake up at four and eat my first meal after drinking 20 ounces of water at 5:30 and then I eat my second meal at 8:30 and my third meal at one and my fourth meal at 4:30 which is my smallest meal of the day so that I won't have a reflux when I go to sleep at 9 o'clock I'm doing the best I can, but there doesn't seem to be any solution for my chronic back pain, ice, and heat help Tylenol if I can't stand the pain and stretching ----if you have anything to tell me, definitely tell me, Naomi Shapiro

2 ReactionsHello. So sorry you are having these problems. I have one fracture T8(2024 then khyptoplasty) am in month 9 of my Onero program. My trunk stability was horrible- now it’s great! I will be launching my instagram page next week to show what that is like.- GrandmaStrong does Onero. I have less pain now but yes still pain with some activities. I have used Deep Blue by Doterra an online essential oils company my MD says is good. It’s very helpful. I also use an Actipatch( fits snug under bra) that really helps! It’s a device that emits electromagnetic waves. My vet had me try one for my dog Sadie for her mild hip dysplasia and foot tendon repair. It helped her a lot-so one day I said-hand it over Sadie-now we each have one. It’s available on Amazon or the product website. About $40. I hope this helps you! A small amount of relief makes a big difference!
@staceywren where are you doing the Onero program. Looking for one in Florida near me but some programs don't seem legit
@margotm
Hi.I am at Scoliosis JAX and PT near Jacksonville. If you are on East Coast of Florida there are a few places. Go to the Onero website. They have a world wide location map of certified programs. My IG account will be discussing the certification process etc with the owner here. Actually doing the interview. If you can’t find the location map. Let me know where you live and I can help. Keep in mind I drive 170 miles round trip and very worth it!!!
@staceywren thank you for the information. I found a place that says they do the program in Fort Myers, Fl which is an hour and a half from Sarasota where I am. I listened to an interview with the program creator and she was cautioning people to only go to certified providers.
@margotm
A certified Onero is found on the Onero location map on the website. If not on that map they are not certified. You do have to go twice a week to build bone. It’s a big investment time, energy and money. But the alternative is keep losing bone more fractures. So I’m investing in my future self. I have to say I love doing it- new physical activity for me-
