Co enzyme Q10
Hi everyone - I have idiopathic sensory neuropathy and thought I was doing better but last two nites my bottoms on my feet are burning and very red. I started on co enzyme Q10 since I have been on Lipitor for many years to help with weak muscles and they say neuropathy - only taking it for two days. Has anyone had any luck with co enzyme Q10 would sure love to hear from you. Anyway my husband died in the middle of Nov last year so have had lots of issues to deal with it. Would appreciate hearing from any of you. Lyrica sucked - made me so tired not worth it and tried so many creams - anyway, if anyone has had luck with anything would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you. I don't know how to live alone with burning feet and wondering if the physical therapy is helping me. It seems to get worse at night. I do take amitriptyline in evening 50 mg and it does help some but in the day I cant take it - appreciate hearing from someone as I am getting desperate.

Taking cymbalta helped me and I also take lyrica and take a nap everyday. Coq10 helps too

1 ReactionHello @gnocchi, I also take Ubiquinol (CoQ10) daily but more for the heart benefits than anything else. Mayo Clinic has more information here - https://store.mayoclinic.com/education/benefits-of-coq10/.
Sorry to hear you are struggling with the burning feet. I don't have burning just numbness with my neuropathy but do have the constant squeezing feeling due to having to wear knee high compression socks for lymphedema. I can tell you that you are not alone as many members have mentioned burning feet. You might find it helpful to scan through a search of Connect for "burning feet what helps". 3 ReactionsI have neuropathy, and my feet had burn like fire. I'd get ice packs and keep my feet on them. I take cymbalta and Nortriptyline 10mg 4 at night. My feet kept burning. I started using spray magnesium oil on my feet couple times a day and after a month the burning stopped. Everynow and then I'll get a flare up, like right now, I have magnesium cream I'm using. I hope I can get them to calm down soon

1 ReactionHave you tried Alpha Lopaic Acid? It appears to help some people with neuropathy.

Hi gnocchi, I just discovered your post. My story is not unlike yours. I have burning and red hot (literally red) toes, especially in the evening. I am also a fairly recent widow and without question all of my health issues, including neuropathy, got significantly worse in the aftermath - and have stayed that way. I haven't tried systemic medications specifically for the neuropathy, but I am using a prescription topical from a compounding pharmacy suggested by my late husband's neurologist. Ketamine/Lidocaine/amitriptyline 1/5/2% cream. It's not a miracle cure by any stretch, and it's crazy expensive so I use it very sparingly. If nothing else it seems to help my sleep and anything that helps my sleep is worth trying.
As for supplements, I used ALA for a while and I don't think it was of great benefit at all. I have used CoQ10, a reputable brand, for several years unrelated to neuropathy. I'd be surprised if it is helping my neuropathy - the only way to find out would be if stopping it would cause my neuropathy symptoms to get worse. I don't plan to stop it.
You've probably already figured out that it helps to not have the covers on your feet at night when you're in bed.
I'm sorry about the death of your husband. It's a difficult, never ending journey we're on. Hugs.
