Cleaning LifeStraw pitchers
The cleaning directions for LifeStraw pitchers says that filter housing is to be rinsed with water only and filters are to be rinsed with water only. Filters don’t need to be removed from filter housing for cleaning. Isn’t there a biofilm growing within the filter housing and shouldn’t the interior of the filter housing be cleaned with Dawn and water just like the pitcher. It’s a pain to take everything apart but seems to me biofilm makes that necessary. I hope I’m wrong and would love to hear thoughts on this.

Good morning-
I follow the directions provided except I replace the round filter monthly and the other filter every six months. (This is just me being overly cautious). Whenever I change the filters I remove both of them and place on a paper towel and wash the filter housing with clear dawn in hot water, dry and place the filters back in. Weekly I wash the pitcher, silicon protector, and lid with the hot water and Dawn. During the weekly washing I just wipe down the outside of the filter housing with hot water. There is also a Lifestraw video online about how to deep clean the pitcher and parts. Hope this helps.
