Cleaning Ceramic and Glass Water Storage Containers

Posted by Patty57 @mountains1957, 1 day ago

Good Day Friends,

I buy Reverse Osmosis water from Whole Foods/5gallon container and bring home to place in my 2 gallon Ceramic and Glass Containers. I then run that water through my LifeStraw Glass Pitcher for use.
What would you suggest to clean my two glass holding water containers, ceramic and glass? I have 12% hydrogen peroxide at home for other cleaning purposes. Or a slight splash of bleach?

I'm new to this journey and learning more every day from all you wonderful folks who help in answering questions.
Thank you so much,
Patty

@mountains1957 I scrub my containers and reuseable water bottles with a brush and dish soap (removes any forming microfilm). Then I sanitize them using the long sanitize setting in my dishwasher. The lids for my water withstand this treatment, but not the straws.

Thank you kindly for the reponse, Sue.
We do not have a dish washer.
The two water containers that hold the water are 2 gallon, so I'm looking for a solution with what to clean them manually that can make them as safe as can be for me to use as my drinking water.
Even trying to find answers to clean my 5 gallon container that I take to Whole Foods for Reverse Osmosis water.

Here at the Mayo and NTM forums, I just can't get answers.
maybe a few drops of bleach in one, then brush them inside, and rinse, rinse, rinse.

@mountains1957 Did you google: will bleach kill MAC bacteria. AI, for what it is worth said yes.
What type of water will you rinse it all out with....???
Sometimes I think we go in circles trying to be so careful. Hope you find a solution you are comfortable with.
