Stool changes
Hello all,
I've had a strange yellow gelatinous material in my stool for the past few months, on and off, and I see it more often when I have diarrhea. It may happen once a week or more often, not sure, but I just see it more clearly when I have diarrhea, which happens not every day but maybe once a week or so. When my stool is solid, my poop is often a brownish-yellowish color, and I am afraid I may have something.
Here is a picture from today's stool. My entire diarrhea was yellow and this material was dispersed throughout, and I had a sore throat today as well (unrelated?):
http://i.imgur.com/a8FP6Ty.jpgPlease let me know what direction I should take. The problem is that I've had yellowish stool for months, on and off, but today's sore throat is a new case, maybe unrelated?

Hi @TundeMagee, Connect is an online community where you can share experiences with and meet other patients managing their health. Your situation, however, sounds like you should consult a doctor, either your family doctor or a GI specialist.
HI @TundeMagee , I agree with Colleen. You really need to see a GI or Primary DR. . It could be anything from what your eating to a gallbladder problems. Please get into see a Dr. the sooner the better. All too often people wait too long and compound the problem. I wish you the best..
@TundeMagee
So sorry this is happening to you. I'm not a doctor, but I would immediately go to my family doc and find out about it. They can take a sample and get it tested.
good luck, Please keep us posted.
Best wishes.
My apologies if this is not appropriate to discuss but I noticed the last two days I have had black stools. I suffer from gerd and constant belching? Should I be worried about internal bleeding or no?
I think you should get that checked with your dr. My GI always tells me that if I have black stool I need further testing for blood loss. Good luck to you.
@jadillow - Welcome to Connect! Your question about stool is very appropriate for the GI site. I assume this is the first time you have black stools? How black are they? Like tar? Also, have you taken PeptoBismol or similar? They will cause black stools. You should DEFINITELY contact your doctor- they can easily test the stool for blood.
Please let us know what is happening!
Unless you take iron-ferrous sulfate pills- you should be checked for internal bleeding.
I just noticed it today. Haven’t took any other medicine besides my normal stuff. I have started drinking hibiscus tea but unsure if they caused any issues. It didn’t tar like. Just darker than normal
Just update. Back to normal this morning with exception of consistency which is normal for me. No black. GERd is no fun 🙁
@jadillow You must be relieved. It must simply be something you ate, various things can cause that. If you have any recurrences try to remember everything you have eaten that might have caused it, but hopefully it will not come back. If you do trace it something I will be curious to hear what it was.
