Chronic salty taste

Posted by bel59 @bel59, May 31, 2024

Hello
Has or is anyone experiencing intense & chronic salty taste in the mouth? If so have you gained any relief or insight from any type of practitioner. I am a long term sufferer and it is a very mentally debilitating condition.
Thx Bel

Absolutely, we will share it with each other. Our conditions sound identical. Okay, so I can rule out trying Neurotin. It is great for certain things, but not what we have. Ibuprofen does not help at all either. I do wear my retainer at times. Every now and then I think it helps for a while. The melts that stick to our gums help at night when I go to bed. But nothing can be taken in excess or it seems to make it worse. I saw two ENT's, two Oral Surgeons, 5 dentists, an orthadontist and medical doctors. It is sooo expensive even with good insurance. The co pays and deductibles are ridiculous and then to constantly hear they don't know what it is. I am just done.

It’s my understanding that the taste issue is not inside the mouth though that is where it manifests. But, no one seems to know much about it.

@celia16 Yes, I read that it can actually be caused by an issue with the cranial nerves but I'm not sure what would help that or even how they could diagnose it. One doctor put me on gabapentin which helps with nerve issues didn't do anything for me so I weaned myself off of it.
