Chronic Post nosal drip Complication

Posted by anna17X0X @anna17xox, Jan 20 10:29pm

hello , I have had post nasal drip for a couple years now it started since I was around 14 or 13 I think back in 2018 around the time of the Covid -19 outbreak. I'm now 17,And I don't know how I developed it or why I developed it it just somehow happened to me. And I have seen my doctor about it, I've tried nasal sprays ,saline solutions as recommended but they only provide a temporary solution. They don't really help as much I notice the symptoms will ease up for while but come back after a while. I even drink plenty of water and warm fluids to thin out the mucus. But It seems like it never goes away no matter what I do. My doctor told me what I think the cause is and honestly I don't know and I'm still trying to figure out what's causing this and don't think it's allergies but it could be. But I do notice my post nasal drip gets worst during cold seasons, so that's when I usually use nasal sprays the most. I think it even causes my brain to feel a little fuzzy sometimes, and can give me headaches .Sometimes I'll try to spit the mucus out to keep it from congesting my throat but it causes a metallic taste and unpleasant odor in my mouth . So I sometimes swallow it to avoid that, and frankly im just so sick of it .I think I might have some kind of sinus or bacterial infection I don't know what's wrong with my nose. I want to consult with my doctor about other treatment options but my mom thinks I'm overreacting and that it'll go away on it's own. But it hasn't, it's been years since I have had this problem and I desperately want it to go away .Right now seeing a doctor isn't really an option because my mom doesn't think it's that bad and refuses to schedule an appointment for me. I don't know what to do I'm thinking about going back to using nasal irrigation once a day because I only used it once the first time I tried it. Didn't see much of a difference so this time I'll try using it once a day and also consider getting a humidifier. But apart from that I really think I need some serious medical treatments because this has been plaguing me for way too long and right now my head feels uneasy from swallowing this mucus And please if you also suffer from Chronic Post nasal drip ,and have may have a clue as to what's causing it and what treatments or remedies you use that might work for me please let me know ,I would really appreciate it.

Did you develop the taste since you started having the chronic sinusitis .And does it ever go away or is it long-term and if so have you asked your doctor about how to treat or get rid of it.Do you still have it now,how do you cope with it ?.I'm sorry if I'm asking too much its just that the taste is just so discomforting and i cant stand it.I cant focus at all cant think straight or even talk properly sometimes because of it.It's so revolting and It makes me want to eat all the time or chew gum just to overpower power the taste sometomws i just have tooth paste sitting in my mouth for a while until I spit it out . but it comes back shortly after. And again like I have said i have tried everything to get rid of it but it can't seem to just go away.told my doctor about it and she said it might be acid reflux and my dentist said it could be bad oral hygene. But im 100 % positive that its something else.I just don't know what it is,I've set an appointment with My dentist next week to see if she can have a look at my tongue and see if its an underlying oral infection.btw i had rcently just gargled my mouth with salt and water solution before bed to make the taste go away for a while .But I really hope it goes away for good because I just cant live with it anymoe.

no. i had the taste before the CS. and for me the taste never goes away. which is strange and frustrating. after the polyp surgery i lost ALL sense of smell and taste. and that was about 5 years ago, maybe. i'm not at 100% back. now about the acid reflux. i disagree. i have gerd. and believe me. there is nothing metallic tasting about it. it's stomach acid. and it BURNS. question. do you have any cavity repair work done? also before you see the dentist. thoroughly check your tongue and teeth, gums. roof of mouth, under your tongue. you can do this with a flashlight and your bathroom mirror. look for anything that don't look right. and don't forget the insides of your cheeks. looking for anything not normal. cause if you see something you can let the dentist know what you found. remember, if it's small let him/her know. and also as i say. IF you don't get the results you agree with, find a different doctor. because this is NOT normal. it's YOUR right. good luck, d

I also have a strong metallic taste in my mouth from the nasal drip. I practice good oral hygiene. I did recently discovered I have a toxic level of selenium in my blood which is a very strange thing. I don’t take any supplements and don’t eat foods high in it. Working on seeing a toxicologist.

i must have missed the braces. what are they made of? if aluminum they may have caused some scratches in your cheeks, tongue and gums. that's why you need to do that oral exam.

I have and I know more about Selenium than ever now. I saw a toxicologist who insists I’m ingesting it somehow, which I must but I have no idea where. I’m vegan and the foods I eat are not high in it. I take a few supplements such as B12, Folic Acid, Vit C, D. All the supplements I take are third party tested. I went as far as to reach out to them about possible hidden Selenium and was told no.
I’ve been high for at least a year and just got retested. It’s scary not knowing where this is coming from. Getting tested for Selenium for me was a fluke. The Holistic Nurse I was seeing suspected I was LOW and wanted to check before prescribing a supplement. I would suggest anyone here experiencing a metallic taste see about getting tested for Selenium toxicity and possibly for heavy metals.

Thank you for informing me about this, If i cant find any other case for the metallic taste I'll see if I'm able to get tested for this .I have energy hears of selenium before but I think it could be a genetic problem for you but hopefully it isn't.have you tried asking your family members if they could have had the same condition as well ?,

You are not alone. After Covid i have been plagued with the same thing and many of my friends are too. At night i raise my bed snd use s humidifier next to me. If i wake up coughing and it wont stop draining i take Robitussin cough syrup. Something that works. I also dust my bedroom frequently especially under and around my bed. So little is known about Covid and it’s frustrating! Talk to your mom again and see an allergist. Good luck!
