Yes I just tried a therapeutic dose of Psylocybin 2 days ago. I did it on a clinical pathway with a registered psychologist. There is a pathway put out by John Hopkins hospital . You have 2 prep talk sessions, the dosing day is literally almost all day . Then afterwards you have 2-3 integration talk sessions to figure out what the experience means and how to apply it to your pain journey . I had to buy the mushrooms online and had to make the tea myself as they are not fully recognized here in Canada for pain . They are for major depression and PTSD. There are very encouraging results coming through the literature but it’s early days. Unfortunately my experience was rough as had a lot of nausea and pain …a very unusual reaction , so I’m an outlier.

@alh123 That’s pretty wild. Sorry it hasn’t worked so far. Maybe it will take a few sessions for it to settle down before it works. Keep us updated.

Yes. It was disappointing…going to look into microdosing

@alh123 Mescaline, shrooms etc are illegal everywhere in USA. These clinics ar a money grab for sure. We did our share long ago and doses were never checked. The only thing I noticed was they set your mind free from the norm views of life. They set one free from society. you can have good and bad results. Had both. The pure LSD we got from Phrama would be the best as the trees do breath. I am not to sure about pin management though. The results are temporary in most cases for pain relief, and they od alter the brainwaves. Be careful is all i have to say. I prefer using marijuana for pain control but stick with Morphine for life for chronic pain after hemipelvectomy . Loss limb and bones caused chronic pain. Just becuse taking it, does not mean I am an addict like government crap perceives. I take as prescribed never nmore to get high.

@raymond111deluca, yes that attitude is so misguided. Using a medicine and being physically dependant on it ( which everyone on an opioid is ) is entirely different from being addicted , as you so rightly say. I was on opioids for years ..was dependent and went thru withdrawal when I stopped , but never was addicted.

@raymond111deluca , one more thing. The medical evidence on Psylocybin is in its infancy , but is very encouraging . There are some very compelling case stories including a close friend where it changed their life dramatically from a fixed pain behaviour point of view , but also microdosing gives them the same relief that an opioid might for 4-5 hrs. It’s very intriguing ..but obviously needs experienced practitioners and proper protocols,

@alh123 Sorry, I just saw your response. I am not quite at the point to go on a trip with magic mushrooms. I purchased some 75% THC last month here in Delaware(legal here). Tried half a “ line” once. I didn’t feel anything so I did another half. About an hour later it kicked in. Made me very foggy headed. I don’t recall any real pain relief. I may try it again with the knowledge that it takes a while for it to kick in.
Thanks for reaching out.

Yeah, I had the same reaction when I tried all the dif variations of cannabis and THC. There are some people that just dont have the enzyme systems that make these substances work. The same plant that made me nauseated and foggy took my brother on a nice little trip. I had the same reaction on Ketamine and now psilocybin. it sucks! I really hope it works for you .

Has anyone on this forum tried "magic mushrooms" for pain? A friend suggested it but mentioned that it's best to have someone with you to help "navigate" the trip. I did some research and discovered a few things:

The chemical in these mushrooms (psilocybin) is somewhat hallucinogenic. Recent studies have shown that it may help with chronic pain by reprogramming the brain's persistent pain channels. The effect may last weeks, months, or even a year. With that said, the chemical is classified as a class 1 drug, the same as heroine and cocaine. Currently, these mushrooms are illegal in most states. I guess you have to "know someone" to get them.

It'll be interesting to see the responses. Thanks.

@heisenberg34 I have not tried for pain. I am interested in the replies you might get back. The only magic mushrooms I knew of were in high school 50+ years ago growing under cow pies, definitely hallucinogenic. Please be careful, now I’m much older I try to be wiser and safer than those carefree teenage years.
