Chronic GERD and esophageal issues
I had covid a week weeks back and during covid I experienced mild acid reflux. A week after I started to experience a mild stabbing like pain in my chest. It went on for a few days, I saw my GI and she sent me for an endoscopy. However before the endoscopy I experienced chronic GERD, to the extent that all of my insides were burning and also like someone is passing electricity though my esophagus. I was prescribed PPI and was trying to manage with antiacid. The symptoms continued to get worse, now I experience a stabbing pain in my chest followed by strangling pain in my throat followed by sore throat and electrical impulses in my jaw and teeth. This flow of pain and discomfort keeps repeating itself. My doctor prescribed scuralfate which barely helped with the intensity of the pain and discomfort, but hasn’t been really good. I was Refered to an esophageal specialist doctor and he believes it’s esophageal spasms and has prescribed esophageal manometry and PH tests . For Which I managed to get appointments only a month from now. I am really stressed and worried . Especially the electric impulse type of pain in my jaw and teeth makes me very tired and very uncomfortable. Does anyone know what’s going on with me, does anyone have any knowledge of experience of this post covid ?

Buy the book the acid watcher diet.
Just ordered it! Thank you so much.
For me the brat diet helped. As well as taking Mylanta and seeing my go Dr and getting endoscopy to rule out anything serious. Good luck!!! No heavy meals. No spicy or fried foods. No eating after 7 pm.
I’ve been taking a PPI for GERD for years. Doctor added H2 blockers. I had continued discomfort, nausea and indigestion. I developed IBS-C in the last two years and lost 35 lbs. I visited a GI specialist and asked about the continual use of PPI’s. He said there were worse things I could do. I currently visit a GI nurse practitioner. I asked to try a different medication. I asked for Voquezna. She agreed without hesitation and made the comment that we needed to calm the gut down to avoid cancer. Scary! I’ve only taken it for a week but I feel better everyday. No discomfort or nausea. My appetite is coming back and no bouts of IBS. She ordered 20mg initially and it was too expensive. Changed to 10mg and it was covered with zero copay. Go figure! Hoping this helps someone else.
