Cholesterol medication
I have tried several different medications to lower my cholesterol. These medications (statins) helped with my cholesterol but cause terrible body and joint pain. My higher cholesterol is of course partly due to diet but a lot due to family genetics.
Does anyone know of a cholesterol medication that I might try. Thanks!

Because I can’t take statins with my neuropathy, my endocrinologist wants me to take Ezetimibe. Not as effective but less side effects. I haven’t tried it yet because I just don’t like meds and I’m determined to fix things organically. When I added plain oats to my daily diet, it lowered my LDL by 25 points in 3 weeks! That was the only food I changed. I’m trying to eat really healthy. Also, if you have any extra weight on, losing even some of that can lower your cholesterol. Basically, really try to take eating, exercising and maintaining a healthy weight seriously. It all adds up. Maybe you do all that already, but for me meds always seem to add as many new issues as the ones they help so I’m trying to get my good health habits halo on. Best of luck 😊

4 ReactionsMy husband’s doctor took him off the statins and put him on Repatha. It is a biweekly injection.

4 Reactions@cjval52 why did he take him off the statin? Could he not tolerate statins or was it related to a goal the statin could not reach.
@cjval52
Is he having any side effects?

1 ReactionWhat you’re experiencing sounds like statin intolerance, and while statins are effective, alternatives you can ask your doctor about include Ezetimibe (milder LDL reduction), Bempedoic acid (less muscle-related side effects), and powerful injectable options like Alirocumab or Inclisiran, which are especially useful if your high cholesterol is largely genetic.
