What do you take for Cholesterol Control? (NAFLD)

I’m curious anyone with NAFLD and now cirrhosis what kind of cholesterol prescription you are on. I’m not feeling comfortable with what my primary Dr has ordered.

I take a PCSK9 inhibitor called Repatha. I have genetic cholesterol(FH). Its a twice a month injection. 3 years now with no side effects. My drug plan did not cover when I first started so I switched my drug plans to one that does. I had to switch during the open enrollment. I do not have liver problems but the data says that the trials did not indicate liver issues. I cannot take statins without adverse side effects.

I also have FH. I found a lipid specialist, who confirmed that via testing. I was never able to tolerate statins, and have other conditions affecting muscle and joint pain. He Rx’d Nexlizet, (combo tablet with Bempadoic acid and Zetia) as an alternative to Repatha because I am very sensitive to medications and didn’t like the idea of the bi monthly injection. Nexlizet has worked extremely well- and I was able to reduce the daily dose to every other day. It’s been over a year now - will be getting my 4 month follow up labs next month.
