Chemo now once a month instead of twice a month, good or bad idea?

My husband has done chemo for 3 yrs now. His last 2 scans have been NED. yaaaaaaaaaaay Have decided to just do once a month. Has anyone else lowered their chemo days? And did it work for you? Bad idea?

Assuming he's doing it under medical advice, probably just fine. Congratulations to him.
I haven't reduced the frequency but have reduced the quantity of Abraxane per infusion. Under advice. So far, it's working with potential for further reductions if scans and the CA19-9 continue to look good.
My doctor had said that science knows the maximum safe dose. But doesn't necessarily know the minimum effective dose for an individual. It's trial and error. Obviously, you want the lowest dose that does the job.
Good luck.

@bzabeli
I'm not sure I agree with your dr. Chemos are based on clinical trials and those minimum doses should be known. I would get the opinion of another pancreatic oncologist.

Thanks, but I'm pretty confident in my oncologist and the center of excellence he's affiliated with. So good with his recommendations.
Chemo treatments not being equally effective for all patients is common knowledge.

That's all you can do. I've been told differently, that there's a point where a dosage is so low that it's ineffective.

@howleegirl, how did the consult with the oncologist go? Will your husband be able to decrease the frequency of chemo?

Bob is feeling good, looks good and still working. Doc said to just keep doing what we're doing!
