Celiac AND mesenteric panniculitis

Posted by candaceoc @candaceoc, Nov 11, 2021

I was diagnosed with celiac disease around 20 years ago (I am 71), and have been maintaining a strict GF diet. Several months ago, I was also diagnosed with jejunal mesenteric panniculitis, but my internist doesn't know much about it. How concerned should I be? Should I see a specialist? Does panniculitis (which I'd never previously heard of) advance to something more serious? Thank you.

Welcome, @candaceoc. Interestingly @londonmark asked a very similar question in this discussion called:
- Mesenteric Panniculitis or Sclerosing Mesenteritis https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mesenteric-panniculitis-or-schlerosing-mesentertis-auto-immune-around-small-intestine/

We took the question to Mayo Clinic's Dr. Joseph Murray. See more information in this blog and video.

Do you have access to a specialist for a second opinion?

I will try to find someone in St. Louis who knows about this condition. Do you know of anyone here? Thank you for your help.
