CBD oil for pain

Posted by timfitz @timfitz, Jul 19, 2016

After trying opiates, and lyrica, and mostly just suffering I tried sublingual CBD which is from the marijuana plant, but has no THC in it, you don’t get high. It was very very effective. Not only did it reduce my pain at least 75%, it has a calming effect on the anxiety produced in those of us with chronic pain by the fact we have it. I do recommend it…. Be sure it is from a reliable source. You don’t need to smoke anything or get high.

@jeanie26

I was under the impression I didn’t need to see a Doctor for CBD. Are you sure we are talking about the same thing? CBD is legal in all states.

@jeanie26 It is federally legal but left up to the states. Idaho and Mississippi are the only two holdouts, I believe.

Thank you for getting back to me and getting me straight on that. I got my bottle of CBD oil, the directions are to take a full dropper under the tongue and leave for 60 to 90 seconds, swallow the remaining. Ok I tasted it and I can’t think of anything to compare it to, lets just say it tasted terrible and I knew there was no way I could put that oil under my tongue, leave it there and swallow what;s left. Just no way, no no way, absolutely not, no way. lol ( funny but true) I also understand you can also put it in food. So okay, all I needed to do was find something to put it in, very simple right ? Well, I thought so too. It seems oil especially GREEN oil, doesn’t like to be mixed with food of any kind what so ever. Then I tried it with Vanilla pudding, I put the oil in a little hole in the pudding, put the pudding with the oil in my mouth and took another bite real fast then took a big drink of soda and low and behold it went down without any problems. So now how is it working for me? I am not sure yet, maybe after a few more pudding cups and I’ll know but I do think it helped my pain a little but certainly nothing to compare to what I’ve heard others were experiencing, do you think it was the pudding? teehee. What else can I try? any ideas? and how can I go about getting the CBD you get in Canada ? Maybe next time I order I will try to smoke it. Maybe that will work better…. Anything that you or anyone else can suggest would be very appreciated.. thanks

@jeanie26 I know exactly what you mean..the best kind with no additives tastes terrible. The reason you hold it in your mouth is for quick absorption. If you mix it with food it will go straight to your belly which will delay relief time. I do this: I add it to two teaspoons of clear juice.I also learned that you have to mix it up in a real container-it goes right through the bottom of a little paper cup. I've tried a few and I find that the drugstore variety sold only by pharmacies is the best.

I am really confused on cbd oil.. Do you take it everyday weather you are in pain at the time or not?? Do you take it morning or evening?
What I really would like to know is do you have to take it for several days or weeks to get it built up in your body or can you expect relief after taking it right away..I think I've been maybe not taking enough because I'm not sure when you should get relief>>
If you have any knowledge on this please share>>

Sometimes it's not strong enough depending on your level of pain. I recent tried Pinnacle Hemp for the 1200mg. It works well though I am sleepy after taking it. So I only take it in the evening.

Hi, @peggyn – you may have noticed I moved your post to this existing CBD oil for pain discussion. I did this so you can connect with others also interested in this topic. Simply click VIEW & REPLY in your email notification to get to your post.

Sounds like this is something you've already started for your pain, but you are not getting the results you anticipated? Will you share about how much/when you've taken it thus far?

I've been reading these posts for awhile now and there's so much great information being shared. I've learned a lot just reading what others are writing about their experiences. This is my first post, so I hope I'm doing it correctly. A coworker told me about cbd and I first tried it in November 2018. I tried two brands that were full spectrum products and it seemed even though the thc content was minimal, it aggravated my anxiety and I wanted to give up on it. I decided to try a broad spectrum product (no thc) and I found it really has been helpful. From January through April of this year I was on a downward spiral. I started using the broad spectrum product in April and I really was surprised that it helped me. I was dealing with depression, anxiety, anorexia, and a graves disease flare up. I've noticed my mood is better. I'm not having weird mood swings. I sleep better. I am hoping to eventually stop taking clonazepam and am needing that med much less now. I've tried antidepressants in the past with no success. CBD oil and cbd gummies have really surprised me by helping me. It's intimidating to try a new product especially when there aren't any dosage guidelines and it's hard to find the right product, but I'm glad I didn't give up. I really thought nothing was going to ever help.

I use my CBD twice a day. It's been a help to me also.

Does your topical CBD have Lidocaine in it? If so, how can you tell what results you get from CBD and what you get from the topical anesthetic?

I've been participating in these Chats on pain and other issues for a couple of years and something important occurs to me. Especially when you're dealing with pain combined with depression and anxiety it is going to be almost impossible to know if a new product is having a positive effect a negative effect or no effect at all. Pain depression and anxiety all come and go with their frequency and their intensity. I can tell you this, anxiety and depression will greatly increase the intensity with which you experience pain, probably a lot more than any single thing you add to your regiment like CBD or lidocaine or other topical medications. I know this kind of sucks because it makes it really hard to decide what to do. What I have found that works is the number one deal with my depression, I use antidepressants and talk therapy and last but not least bibliotherapy. Read the book Feeling Good, read The Four Agreements. Evaluating the effects of other drugs or supplements to deal with pain before you have adequately dealt with your depression and your anxiety is a Fool's errand. I don't know much about CBD and I'm hoping to learn more. I do know from years of smoking pot that it doesn't make your pain Less in fact it may intensify your pain and it does not make your anxiety less and in fact in almost everyone who smokes it especially if they don't smoke it everyday and they're used to it it increases one's paranoia and anxiety. This is nothing new, we've known this since our generation started smoking pot in the 60s. It would appear from what I'm reading that non THC forms of cannabis do have a positive effect on pain. Fortunately if you listen to Science Friday on NPR you may have heard about a group of people who are synthesizing THC from sugar I have accomplished this by genetically altering yeast to do the work for them. There are a number of components in cannabis which occur in such small quantities that no one really knows what they do and they may turn out to be very beneficial and this group is working on synthesizing THC and THC 9 containing cannabinoids that will focus on these lesser-known aspects of cannabinoids. CBD is being pushed heavily by everyone who doesn't want to give you narcotics. Remember this. America's problem with addiction it's not primarily centered on doctor prescribed opioids it is centered on methamphetamine and heroin from Mexico. Your government could control these with further efforts and further pressure on the countries that manufacture the sudafedrin to allow the Mexicans to make all the meth that they bring into America. A wall will not stop these drugs they are not carried in on mules they are transported by any number of means. They are not hand carried across the border, no immigrants are bringing pallets with for 55 gallon drums of pseudoephedrine into California as the ones that were found their seven years ago which originated in the Ukraine. if you're old like me and you're going to be in pain for the rest of your life the only thing you can do that's really going to work for you is to find a good pain clinic with a good neurosurgeon who will implant a pain pump in your abdomen and run a catheter up your spine and deliver you three to four milligrams of Dilaudid or a similar drug per day which will eliminate about 50% of your pain. Those first three mg you get along with the two that you can give yourself will give you an effective dose of 700 mg to 800 mg of morphine every day. I've seized drugs did not pass through your stomach there are no side effects in terms of constipation. The liquid is mixed directly into your spinal fluid and goes directly onto the base of the nerves which run throughout your body. It will not make you Dopey it will not make you sick to your stomach it will not make you constipated. I'm 4 years into this program and I haven't thought about eating my shotgun since 2015 before I got my pump. Marijuana's a lot of fun and it feels great but it's not going to be the be-all and end-all for medicine. Modern medicine for all the bad rap it takes especially for my own generation is still pretty damn good stuff. it's saved my life when I had a rare sarcoma and it's made my life bearable after my spine is crushed and collapsed under wear and tear scoliosis osteoarthritis and any number of other conditions that have left me pretty much disabled. If you want to know more about pain pumps, do a search under wsh66. Good luck, love and blessings.

I use a tincture that I take by mouth, no lidocaine. It has very minimal THC content, though the oil is labeled full spectrum. I don't want to feel high regardless of pain. I have to drive myself to my local appointments and prefer to be very aware. I was able to increase activity after starting it. I can ride my stationary bike much longer.

Can you take CBD oil if you are also taking a cholesterol lowering drug like lipitor?

Caution if you use blood thinners. Ask your doctor.

One dropper is not enough try three couple times a day and GIVE IT 6 weeks or so before you REALLY KNOW IT DOES WORK ! But read everything you can on cbd oil and try other brands ! But the cbd with the Turpins ! Green taste is good it will get you used to it under tongue hold about a minute or so to go
To blood stream. Eating or drinking or capsules has to go threw the stomache acids first it’s not as effective. Trust the cbd does work just takes time and Donot keep using pain meds while using cbd oil because it interrupts the cellular workings to work in body correctly ! If your in severe pain hold off the narcotic pain meds because cbd will work!

Chilly Willy, reading your piece and noting the grammar and punctuation, methinks you might be using a little bit more of the plant than you are letting on. This is almost unreadable. Please bear in mind that this forum is for relating what you have done and what you have had success with or what didn't work. It is not intended advising or instructing others about what they should do or how to use drugs of any kind. Your advice to not take narcotic pills can be very dangerous for a person who has been on large doses for an extended period of time. I doubt that the CBD oil will do anything for the symptoms of withdrawal which they might experience by stopping suddenly. Withdrawal can be quite serious and even fatal. A person should never stop taking opiodes without first consulting their doctor about how gradually they should reduce their dosage. I would imagine that their Doctor, who would probably apluad their desire to find substitute for narcotics, would have them start the CBS oil and then follow a gradual reduction schedule, thus avoiding both withdrawal as well as needless days of suffering.
