Does CBD oil help you with your depression and/or anxiety?

Posted by lalyfa @lalyfa, Feb 24, 2018

I am curious to know if anyone has had success with CBD or Hemp oil helping with depression/anxiety? I’ve been reading a lot about it and am curious.
I've been reading about this and am very interested but would like thoughts/opinions from anyone who has actually tried it or knows someone who has. TIA

Thank you,
Laura

grandmar I also thank you for sharing with us the family history of depression and anxiety. I too come from a family of "Nuts" as my sister puts it. She does not mean this to make it a bad thing, but to keep us on are toes. Both my parents suffered from untreated depression. My mother died a very unhappy lady. She was beautiful. intelligent and depressed. I had many issues as a teenager. I began drinking at age 12 and gradually (maybe not so gradually) became that incorrigible teenager and sent to a wayward girls school. At that time they really didn't address depression, but as I look back it was obvious. I hated school and would "Play hooky" daily. Four years at an all girls Catholic school for "bad girls" probably saved my life. No, it didn't stop after that but I have made i through. My brother who was a heroin addict with many mental problems had a struggle his entire life. There were periods when he appeared good and was clean from all drugs. On December 24th 2017 he shot and killed himself. They found heroin in his apartment. We will never know for sure what happened that day, but for sure he was gone from us. Life may have been very different for us if we were diagnosed and treated back then. I pray daily for all of us suffering from these issues. I do know there is help and we must find it. CBD oil is helping me with anxiety and I am grateful for that. We must find what works and seek it out.

Thank you fot sharing such a personal story. I am so sorry for the loss of your brother.
It is not unusual for people who suffer from psychological to self medicate. Suicide is also not unusual.
Sometimes it takes a while to find a therapist who you can click with. If you don't like or redpect the therapist, he/she can't help. That is the time to search for someone new.
Have a peaceful day....
Ronnie

Does anyone suffer with gastro problems when anxious and depressed? I have terrible esophageal problems and reflux causing much pain. I am attempting to wean from Xanax and taking Zoloft and Inderal. Also take meds for esophagus and stomach. Much fatigue and pain. Perhaps the CBD can help this?

rascal1 I am not sure if I can give the name of the CBD oil. I have no problem but don't want to go against the rules. Hopefully one of the mentors will let me know. If not I believe I can message you. A question. Can you obtain a medical marijuana card referral from your doctor. I too have gastro problems and have had surgery to do something, where hey had to tie something in my stomach because the acid coming up was eroding my esophagus. I still have issues but not bad. My anxiety contributed to that.

Thanks. I do have a medical marijuana card. Waiting to get an esophageal barium swallow. On meds for reflux. Feeling so unwell and clammy along with chest pain. Had endoscopy which showed gastritis and achalasia. I’m sure the anxiety I’ve been experiencing is making the problem worse !
Glad you are doing better !

@rascal1 - I have gastro problems and also suffer from depression and anxiety. Along with antidepressants I use cbd oil to help calm me down. It does very well. The usual dose is 10 mgs. from a 1 oz bottle. What is available to you I would think would depend on the oils that your dispensary carries.

Merry, how does one know where to reliably purchase aforementioned CBS oil? I am thinking there are scammers out there, and sources that are unethical. How does one choose an appropriate provider of quality product?

@mamacita- If it is legal and available in your state there are compassion centers that sell them. Each state is different. And also, how you pay for them is different.

Merry, in my state it is legal only if you have a medical card from your doctor. I believe I qualify, according to the information I previously researched online. I don't honestly know how I feel about using it though. Is it abused? Do people get high on it? I would not want that. As I have gotten older, my Fibromyalgia has gotten incredibly worse. I can go for months with not a sign nor a symptom. Then, out of the blue, I am mowed over with horrid pain. If it is not addicting, I would consider it. Thank you!

@mamacita When I first considered using CBD oil, I started doing research. There were a couple of people at the gym who used it, and I got their feedback on possible issues. Also got their feedback on where they did the purchase. I have used that source since then; it was in the same town where I was. I am fortunate that the same location will ship to me now that I moved, and they ship all over the country. I have been pleased with their product, their support, and their education to customers.
