Catheter valve vs self catheterization

Urologist wants me to self catheterize. I would like to use a catheter valve and then night bag. Any comments or suggestions?

Do you know why he prefers self cath?
I preferred self cath myself. Primarily because of in inceased chance of infection with indwelling catheters and comfort.
